About Samantha Tang
Samantha is a Canadian artist based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. After moving abroad for love, she unexpectedly found her way back to painting and reconnected with a part of herself she had set aside for years. Her work is inspired by self-discovery and returning to your inner child, the honest, intuitive part that knows who you truly are.

She creates layered, textured paintings guided by intuition. While visually striking, the heart behind her work is simple and relatable. Samantha believes softness is a strength and that following your heart matters, especially in a world that often teaches us to play it safe.

Her paintings are not just meant to look beautiful on a wall. They offer a gentle reminder: you don’t have to shrink to belong. You are allowed to take up space, trust yourself, and be fully who you are.

MY CREATIVE JOURNEY
It all started with a feeling, the feeling of freedom. For the longest time I was waiting for someone to give me permission to be free to do what I want.

I have been living in fear for most of my life without even acknowledging it. Fear of being judged, fear of not becoming successful and fear of just failing. So I stayed in my comfort zone and did the 9 to 5 like a responsible human.

BUT here's the magic guys... once I made the decision to do things for me, to change my mindset to gratitude and abundance, something clicked!
I felt the release, the joy, the peace. I felt so free and closer to myself then I had even been since I was a child.

I will continue to enjoy my creative process because my creativity is totally worth investing in and it is such an honour to be able to share it with you all.

FUN STUFF ABOUT ME!

Did you know that I took up figure skating again as an adult, yes I threw shame out the door and competed in skating competitions with kids younger than half my age.
I am deathly afraid of heights but I continue to go bouldering. It's seriously as much of a mental strength training as it is a physical one.
I've got a thing about simplifying and tidying up, and I definitely follow the Marie Kondo style of folding all my clothes.

In 2023 I joined the Swan store. It's a concept store where small businesses such as myself can participate as a collective of makers. You can come shop my art prints in person from the Swan store in Utrecht.

Also, my art prints are also on sale through the Etsy platform. Here's the link: https://samanthatangstudios.etsy.com
